The craftynotions.com website was registered in October 1999 - making us one of the most long-established web suppliers in the creative craft market! Sarah's last book will soon be available. Completed shortly before her sudden passing in December, it is a fitting tribute to her passion and talent.
Sarah Lawrence uses mixed media, stitching and numerous innovative craft techniques to produce stunning textile art with the accent on shimmer and shine. She demnonstrates a host of techniques including gilding, using mica and metal, hand and machine stitching and making unique embellishments. These are then combined to produce rich intricate, bright and shiny finished pieces.

Best Selling ItemsCN51 Craftynotions Rusting Powder 50g £3.65 Rusting Powder allows the creation of almost instant rust effect on fabric, paper and many surfaces. Use an acrylic wax, craft adhesive or other medium to provide a key for the powder on the surface to be treated. Sprinkle the powder over the wet medium and shake off excess. Spritz with water or white vinegar and allow to activate. When dry, gently brush away any loose powder.
Some surfaces or projects may benefit from a coat of sealant such as acrylic wax or Fluid Matte Medium.
find out more | | Craftynotions Double Sided Adhesive Sheet (4xA4) £4.00 Craftynotions' double sided adhesive sheet is ideal for use with Gilding Flake, being very thin, it gives a minimal 'lift' - the added height it gives the surface of your work. It has a good level of adhesion suitable for most tasks, but not as much as ultra-high adhesive sheets, which tend to be too sticky for use with Gilding Flake.

Although it is a liquid glue, unlike PVA, it is not a wet glue. Its dry nature makes it perfect for gilding techniques.

The design can be painted or printed onto a variety of surfaces. Heat causes the paint to expand. This gives a unique surface that can then be further decorated with paint or stitch etc. Experiment on a test piece to learn how Puff Paint reacts before using on your main work. Puff Paint will expand sideways as well as outwards.
The best source of heat is a craft heat gun, which should be used in a waving motion. It will allow you to see the expansion and control the amount of 'puff'. Keep heat gun about 15cm from the surface. Alternatively Puff Paint can be expanded by use of a steam iron (allow to dry first and apply heat to reverse, or use a press cloth), or by placing in an electric oven at 150oC for three to four minutes.
